Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is an on-going process. Bad habits formed over a lifetime don’t magically disappear after six weeks. It takes commitment and courage to make real change and it takes the support of a community.

Once our participants graduate from the six week program, they become part of the Ironwill Community. Our goal is to keep these graduates actively involved and to give them the support they need to make positive changes in their lives and in the lives of their families. Most importantly, we want to ensure they put into practice everything they learned throughout the six weeks.
We do this by providing different activities on a monthly basis. It’s a way for us to check in with our graduates and to measure their progress as well as address concerns. The following is a partial list of these activities: |
-
Lecture Series: Guest lecturers speak on different topics related to Wellness, for example: “Organic food: Is it the real deal?” Or “How to become a vegetarian.”
-
Cooking Classes: Our graduates roll up their sleeves and prepare some new and exciting recipes.
-
Field Trips: To farmers markets, Food fairs, or on hikes.
-
Soup Exchange: Our graduates partner up and take turns doubling up on soups, chilis and stews for both families.

-
Movie Night: We screen a movie related to health and nutrition followed by a discussion.
-
Open Forum: The graduates come together to discuss the challenges they’re facing or simply to share recipes and ideas.
-
Day in the Park: Our families get together for a good old fashioned game of touch football followed by a healthy picnic.
-
Walking Clubs: Our graduates meet a few times a week for a half hour walk together.
-
Ask the Doctor: Our doctor answers specific health related questions.
-
Food Rangers: A group trip to the local supermarket where we find healthier alternatives for everyday products.
